Frequently Asked Questions

General questions

What is the difference between parquet and laminate?

Parquet is made of real wood. For multi-layer parquet, the top layer must be at least 2.5 mm thick. Real wood gives your room a natural and warm atmosphere. It is durable and can be sanded several times.

Laminate is a paper printed with a wood or stone decor that is coated with a layer of melamine resin. It is much cheaper and easier to install, but less durable and cannot be renovated.

Oiled or varnished? Which is better?

The decision between oiled and varnished depends on your personal preferences and the requirements of the floor. Oiled floors have a more natural look and feel and contribute even more to a healthy indoor climate. However, they must be re-oiled regularly. Varnished floors are more resistant to stains and require less maintenance, but look less natural. Both variants have their advantages and the choice depends on your individual taste and usage behavior.

Are parquet, laminate and design floors suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, almost all parquet, laminate and design floors are suitable for installation on underfloor heating. It is important that the floor covering is specifically designed for this purpose and is installed professionally. If necessary, ask before purchasing whether the product you want is suitable for installation on underfloor heating.

Can parquet, laminate or design flooring be laid floating on tiles?

Yes, floating installation is always possible if the subfloor is level, solid and permanently dry. Please always follow the installation instructions provided by the flooring manufacturer.

Can I glue parquet to tiles?

Yes, in principle it is possible. It is important that the tiles adhere well to the subfloor and that the tiles are pre-treated accordingly. There are various options here. For example, you can sand the tile surface with diamond tools or apply a filler after an appropriate primer. We would be happy to answer your individual questions on this.

Should you glue down parquet or lay it floating?

Here, too, each type of installation has its advantages and disadvantages. Glued parquet is quieter, does not move and is easier to renovate. With underfloor heating, heat transfer is significantly better. Transitions and finishes can also be made more attractive (without system rails).

With floating installation, the requirements for the installation surface are not as high. For example, adhesive residues do not necessarily have to be sanded off. Floating installation is also easier to do yourself. A floating floor can also be removed quickly and easily.

Are parquet floors still sanded today?

Yes! One of the biggest advantages of parquet is that it can be renovated. If you sand down a parquet floor, no old flooring needs to be thrown away and no new flooring needs to be made. This gives you an optimal ecological balance and saves you a lot of money.
