1st place at the 2008 Parketto Olympics
After the tiled stove was finished, an elaborate template had to be created. The template covers the entire stove; parquet elements were sawn to size and put together according to the template. The shapes of the template are milled out of the parquet elements using a router. Since the maple wood of the veins cannot be bent that much, the veins around the stove had to be put together from 3 - 6 maple strips to form a 15 mm wide, curved vein. The conditions on site are not always ideal. After precise measurements were taken, installation began in the middle of the room. After installation, the curve around the stove was milled using the template. The prefabricated parquet elements were laid and fixed with wedges. Incidentally, the first prize, which included a trip for 2 people to Las Vegas, went to us. Press release from January 2018: “The competition entry, a two-layer parquet installation in the form of a spiral, divided into individual cubes by veins and provided with an edge frieze, convinced the jury. The incorporation of the asymmetrical tiled stove into the edge frieze was extremely demanding in terms of craftsmanship.”
